Several FDT students have just finished competing at the International Independent Schools Public Speaking Championships, a competition that features some of the top public speakers from across the world. We are happy to announce that our very own Emily Ni has placed as the 5th speaker overall and therefore will advance to the World Public Speaking Championships next year as part of the Canadian National Speech Team! Moreover, we want to congratulate Jena Yue for placing 17th, Madeline Kim for placing 19th, and Ashley Wong for placing 20th.
Our students also excelled in individual categories with Nora Zhu placing 1st in the impromptu speaking category and Emily Ni placing 3rd in the persuasive speaking category. Furthermore, congratulations to Diya Perry for breaking to the finals for the interpretative reading category, to Emily Ni, Madeline Kim, and Ashley Wong for reaching the finals for impromptu speaking, and to Ashley Wong for reaching the finals for the dramatic interpretation category.
Finally, we want to recognize that Crofton House Academy where many FDT students attend and which is coached by FDT instructors Jacqueline Belzberg and Anna Saint was named the 3rd best school in the world for public speaking.
Congrats to all our students and we wish Emily the best of luck at Worlds!
