Kind Words from Our Students
As someone who started at FDT with no experience in debate or speech, I’m truly amazed at the progress and passion I’ve developed for these activities in the past year. From the remarkable group of instructors who provide insightful feedback and have the utmost knowledge over an astonishing number of current events, to the supportive classmates I’ve met, FDT is truly a community that has challenged me to think critically, while opening my eyes to the world around me. I credit each thrilling debate round, game of “debate feud”, and impromptu speaking activity in our classes for enabling me to become more confident, passionate, and dedicated towards such an enthralling and engaging activity. Above all, FDT has taught me to find meaning in my voice, while showing me just how powerful words can be.

Grade 10 Student
FDT has been an incredibly valuable resource and support for both me and my community! The instructors have taught me communication and rhetoric skills that I am certain would have been inaccessible without this opportunity. My time here has provided me with key tools to better promote and even teach debate at my own school, while giving me an incredibly rewarding opportunity to expand my own capabilities.

The great thing about FDT coaching is that it can help you succeed no matter what level you are at in terms of debating. Every aspect of my debating, including listening, argument construction, refutation, and rhetoric have drastically improved thanks to the Academy.

From class presentations, to club applications, to job interviews, debate is the one skill I am infinitely thankful to have. Had it not been for my FDT instructors’ encouragement, I would not be the eloquent, well-spoken person I am today.
