Public speaking is one of the greatest fears that many must overcome; however, FDT believes that it does not have to be that way. We offer specialized public speaking classes to teach students basic skills like writing speeches and presenting with confidence, to more advanced skills like dramatic interpretation and how to deliver impromptu speeches. Unlike debate, public speaking isn’t always about proving a point. Instead, our speech classes teach students how to become comfortable with preparing to write, edit, and deliver speeches for a variety of purposes. Our students and instructors have competed in, and won, provincial and national competitions, while several have gone on to represent Canada at the World’s Individual Public Speaking and Debate Championships. Being able to persuade people through public speaking helps with interviews, paper writing, research, presenting, and most importantly in developing critical thinking abilities that allow debaters to reach high levels of success in all aspects of their lives.
Our weekly speech group classes consist of an average of one teacher for every five. FDT’s speech class allows students to learn the various disciplines of public speaking including persuasive, impromptu, reading, and will even cover some debate. Contact us to learn more!
FDT offers one-on-one private speech lessons, providing students with an opportunity to work on individual challenges and receive unique attention for longer periods of time. Register today and learn about our custom packages, which combine group and private lessons!
