Course Credit Program
For Grades 8-12 Students in B.C. & Alberta
Officially Recognized in B.C. & Alberta
FDT Academy’s Course Credit Program is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for students in Grades 8–12 who are enrolled at an accredited high school in British Columbia or Alberta to earn 4 high school elective credits through a structured, ministry-approved Debate & Public Speaking course.
This isn’t just an extracurricular — it’s an academic enrichment program that builds essential skills in critical thinking, research, communication, and analysis while directly contributing to high school graduation requirements.
The core benefit of this program is that it allows students to develop a unique set of skills that are simply not developed in any other course available today. The course is recognized by the Ministry of Education in both B.C. and Alberta, and as a result, provides a total of 4 elective high school credits.
This program is available to both new and existing debate students. If you are a current student at FDT, you may take this course as a second group class or you may switch from your current group class into this course. Please note that this course covers foundational skills; advanced or competitive debaters may take this course as a second class, but should remain enrolled in their regular debate program for tournament preparation.
