After a smashing success in the local round of Scholar\’s Cup. FDT brought 2 teams to the global round in Barcelona, Spain, facing off against over 1000 of the worlds brightest and best students. Our junior team and senior team competed in 4 categories including writing, debate, Scholar\’s bowl. and Scholar\’s challenge. We are so pleased to announce that both teams performed excellently and were chosen to compete in the Tournament of Champions at Yale University.
We want to say congratulations first to our senior team (Emmalyn Tsang, Ariel Chen, Charles Zha). The team won gold medals in the Scholar\’s Bowl, in the debate category, in team writing, and were in the top 50 teams overall in the world! Individually Ariel won a silver medals debate and collaborative writing. Emmalyn won a gold medal in debate, silver in collaborative writing, and gold in social studies. Charles won a gold medal in collaborative writing and was 23rd overall in debate being selected to participate in the debate showcase. Moreover, Charles was a Champion Scholar individually.
Our junior team (Julia Guo, Vivian Guo, Robert Pak) had many successes of their own. They won a gold medal in debate as a team. Moreover, Vivian won a gold medal in debate individually and a silver medal in science for the Scholar\’s Challenge. Robert won a silver medal in debate individually and a silver medal in art for the Scholar\’s Challenge. Julia won a gold medal in art for the Scholar\’s Challenge, a gold medal in debate individually, a gold medal in individual writing, and a silver medal for Scholar\’s Challenge.
