2 FDT students advance to Speech Nationals

Last month FDT’s most talented public speakers competed in the annual BC Provincial Public Speaking Championship. We have some exceptional results to announce from the competition!

Congratulations to Jena Yue for placing as the 7th best overall speaker and to Angela Lu for placing 8th; these 2 students have advanced to the Canadian National Public Speaking Championships to be held next year. In addition we want to recognize Madeline Kim for placing 9th overall and Nora Zhu for placing 10th. They are the 1st and 2nd alternates, respectively, for the national competition.

We also want to recognize the success of our students in the individual competition events. Congratulations to Jena Yue for placing 2nd in the persuasive speech category and to Nora Zhu for placing 3rd. Congrats to Anisha Singh and Jena Yue for reaching the finals in the interpretative reading category. Congratulations to Caitlin Mah for placing 1st in debate as well as Angela Lu and Madeline Kim for reaching the finals. Finally, congratulations to Jonathan Chu for placing 1st in impromptu speaking, Jena Yue for placing 3rd, and Caitlin Mah and Angela Lu for reaching the finals.
