Longtime FDT student off to try out for Team Canada Debate!

This past weekend, Allan Lee who has been taught by Frankie Cena for over 3 years, was selected out of 24 of BC's best debaters to try out for the national debate team this Spring. He was chosen after a heated semifinals and final round which included other students of Frankie Cena: Kiran Basra, Maggie Macinnis, Angeline Wang, and Samuel Chen.

Students reach semi finals of Cornell

Last weekend, FDT sent two teams to New York to participate in the first-ever Cornell World Schools tournament, Out students dominated the competition with Allan, Jeffrey, and Nellie of Team Canada Red making it to the semi-finals before being beaten by the US team in a very close debate, 

A special shoutout as well to Alannah, Charles, and David on Canada Blue! Moreover congratulations to Jeffrey for placing as the 2nd best speaker, Nellie for placing 3rd, and Andrew for placing 4th. All in all a strong showing from FDT!

Team Denmark sets new record at WSDC in Bali

Team Denmark achieved their best ever result at the 2017 Worlds Schools Debating Championship in Bali, Indonesia. They placed as the 12th best team in the world, the top English as a Foreign Language (EFL) team, and had 2 speakers in the top 30, plus 4 speakers in the top 10 EFL speakers.

Frankie Cena's students selected for Team Canada

Ashley Phord-Toy, Rosa Rahimi, Saara Meghji, and Angelina Zhang, have made it on to the Canadian National Debate Team after undergoing a rigorous selection process. 

Last year Andrew Yun and Anna Yang, both coached by Frankie Cena, went to Bali, Indonesia for the Worlds Schools Debating Championship. Anna has graduated and moved on to Princeton University while Andrew will join the four students in debating for Team Canada in 2017/2018.
